What is VoIP and what is a cloud-based VoIP phone system?

VoIP stands for "Voice over Internet Protocol" and as the name suggests, it allows you to make and receive calls over the internet, rather than over the older telephone network.

A "Cloud based" system is essentially a system which you access via the internet and is not physically stored or located at your premises. Older phone systems required a physical hardware phone system to be installed at offices, which phones then connected back to. This system then connected to the outside world. With a "Cloud based" system, your phones/devices connect directly to our internet connected data centre, negating the need for any on site hardware to control your phone system.

What this means to users are that all maintenance, configuration and updates are handled via the internet. This means we can provide you access to a portal via any internet connection, which allows you to configure how your phone system works and how it handles calls, with immediate effect.

In short, this equates to lower upfront costs, zero maintenance, a highly customizable and functional service along with a plug-and-plug ease of use.
