SMS FAQ

Q: How do I sign up?

A: Contact the sales team, who will outline the costs and if happy, will add the subscription to your Numbergroup account. We will then create your SMS account, with portal login details and send these to you.


Q: Can I test the SMS system?

A: Yes, we give 10 free credits for you to test the system with. After this time, you will need to buy additional credits from ourselves.


Q: Can I send SMS/MMS using my Numbergroup number(s)?

A: Yes, you can. 


Q: Can I receive SMS/MMS using my Numbergroup number(s)?

A: At this time, no you cannot. If you require the ability to receive SMS messages, you will need to use either the Simple Reply Service, or purchase a Dedicated number


Q: What happens if someone does reply to my Numbergroup number with an SMS?

A: You will receive a phone call, where the senders number and message is read out to you (Text to Speech service)


Q: How much are SMS Credits?

A: Our flat rate is 3p (Ex. VAT) per SMS credit. If you wish to purchase a large volume of messages, then please advise us, as we may be able to provide a discount for large purchases.


Q: Are there any additional/hidden charges?

A: No. There are additional charges for certain services, but these are outlined in our pricing accordingly.


Q: Do MMS messages use SMS credits?

A: No, they use MMS credits, which are not linked to SMS credits.


Q: Can I send to non-UK mobile destinations?

A: Yes, you can, but the costs for different countries vary massively, so we would advise contacting us to confirm the credit costs before sending large volumes of SMS messages to international numbers.


Q: Can I cancel my subscription?

A: Yes. Your access will remain until the end of the monthly subscription period, after which it will be removed. Please note! SMS credits cannot be refunded, so these will be lost if they are not used.


Q: Can I send Bulk SMS?

A: Yes, you can. We recommend not sending messages out in batches larger than 500, as this increases your chances that the messages will be picked up as Spam, which will delay or even prevent the delivery of your SMS message.


Q: I sent an SMS and it hasn't been delivered. Why?

A: This could be down to a few reasons..

  1. The message was never sent, due to lack of credit. Please check to ensure you have enough credit. 
  2. The destination number is wrong.
  3. Message may still be in transit. They are usually delivered pretty much instantly, but they can take up to 1 hour to be delivered.
  4. If you sent a bulk message, the message may have been picked up as Spam. In this case, please contact us for further assistance.


Q: I am a reseller and want to resell your SMS services. Can you do this?

A: Yes, we can. Please contact the sales team to discuss the process and costs for setting this up.
